Looks like Skype may finally have a direct competitor in providing cheap phone and video call via the internet for free. Wizzl virtual phone, a free communication software lets users make phone and video calls through the internet on a PC to PC basis. Since “virtual calls” are made on the web, users will incur no charges when using the web application.
Similar to Skype, Wizzl provides direct peer to peer connection rather than using several peers such as one device from another unknown user. For PC to landline or mobile calls, Wizzl charges users a small amount of money depending on whether the call destination is still within Wizzl’s loop.
Wizzl’s web interface simulates that of a real phone. The virtual phone interface’s functions and features are easy to understand and are accessible with just a few click of the mouse. To give users a feel of the real mobile phone when using Wizzl, images and streams are displayed in the virtual phone’s screen.
To use Wizzl, users just need to have a PC with broadband connection, speakers and microphone or headset. Aside from the free VoIP service that Wizzl offers, Wizzl users also have free and direct access to TV and radio channels from all over the world. Wizzl envisions its applications to be the platform of private initiatives for their own TV or radion station. Wizzl’s tool eliminates the need to open a website.
Just in beta version, Wizzl has already been downloaded by users worldwide. The Wizzl beta version is already available with some of its distinguishing features as:
Jaap Korevaar, Wizzl CEO summarizes what Wizzl is all about,
“It is about time that the telecom industry passes their savings - achieved by switching their users to internet telephony - through to their customers. That is what Wizzl is all about. After all, why would you pay twice for calling via internet when you already have a paid internet connection?”
