AT & T in cooperation with Samsung is releasing the SLM mobile phone to the U.S. mobile phone consumers in the middle of November. The new Samsung SLM phone is a lightweight mobile phone with music and multimedia capabilities and is the first music phone that is capable of downloading songs from Napster Mobile.
With the new Samsung SLM, AT & T customers can easily search Napster’s database of 5 million songs, preview samples of each song, then buy those songs and download it on their Samsung SLM phone.
Aside from downloading music directly from Napster, the Samsung SLM is also loaded with exclusive AT&T mobile phone services such as Mobile music, XM Radio Mobile, Pandora, Music ID song-recognition service and VIP access, a mobile fan club and music-discovery service.
The new Samsung SLM can also perform AT&T’s mobile banking applications. The application will be accessible via banking customers of Wachovia Corp. and Sun Trust Banks Inc.
The new Samsung SLM will be exclusive to AT&T network and will be packed with other nifty features such as dual-band 3G connectivity with download speeds of 600 to 1,400 kbps via AT&T’s HSDPA network and quad-band GSM technology. It allows AT&T customers to make calls in 195 countries and download data in 139. The Samsung SLM includes will also include a 521MB SD memory card and a 3.5 mm headset adapter.

The AT&T-Samsung SLM phone will be available at selected AT&T retail stores or online for a special introductory price of $149.99 after a two-year contract activation agreement and a $50 mail-in rebate.
